Humanly is an anonymous peer-to-peer support app. We designed it to collect as little personal information as possible while keeping the community safe. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how you can control it.
To create an account we collect your email address — used only for login, verification, and account recovery. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive only the email and name those providers share. You're assigned a random anonymous display name (e.g. "Soul-4821"). We never ask for your real name, photo, phone number, location, or age. The text of your support conversations and the time messages were sent are stored so both participants can see the conversation. Conversations are between two anonymous users and are not public. To keep the community safe we record: reports you submit, safety flags on messages, blocked-user relationships, and actions our admins take (warnings, suspensions, bans) — including any reason text you provide when reporting or blocking. After a conversation you can optionally answer a few questions and leave an optional note. We record that you accepted the Humanly community pledge, with the version and timestamp. We may collect basic, non-identifying analytics (e.g. app open events) through our platform provider to fix bugs and understand usage.
We use your information to match you with a peer supporter and enable your conversation, to verify your email and allow account recovery, to investigate reports and enforce the community pledge, and to improve matching and the experience. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your data to show advertising.
The other person in your conversation can see the messages you send them. Humanly administrators can view conversation content only when reviewing a safety report, to investigate violations and protect users. Our platform and hosting providers process data on our behalf to operate the service (storage, authentication, hosting). We will disclose information if required to do so by law or to protect someone's safety in an emergency.
Humanly is not a crisis or emergency service and is not a substitute for professional help. The app includes a directory of professional crisis resources. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or a listed crisis line.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account from within the app, we delete your profile, pledge record, feedback, and blocked-user records. Some safety and moderation logs may be retained where needed to prevent repeat abuse, in line with our community standards and legal obligations.
You can delete your account at any time from within the app, block another user to prevent being matched with them again, and report a conversation if you feel unsafe. For privacy questions or requests, contact us through the support channel listed on our App Store page or website.
Humanly is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
